LOUIS VUITTON MINI POCHETTE METIS BAG

Louis Vuitton News

Louis-Vuitton-Mini-Pochette-Metis-Bag

Last time when we wrote about the battle between the Louis Vuitton Croisette Bag and the Metis Pochette Bag, we knew that the second bag was winning. Not only did our bag community double confirm their choice for the Metis Pochette Bag, but the French Fashion House was showing their support as well by expanding the line with classic prints like Reversed Monogram or Monogram Empreinte. And now finally, the day has come to introduce the Louis Vuitton Mini Pochette Metis Bag for the Fall Winter 2017 Collection.

So the Louis Vuitton Pochette Metis Bag has been downsized to an ultra-stylish mini size. But haven’t we expected this outcome? Since its first release in November 2016, it has been nothing than uphill for this bag and it kept climbing. It has now reached a stage where it could be joining the classic collection, so let us hope that this style will stay for a very long time.

The design

The Louis Vuitton Pochette Metis Bag is designed in a square shape with an envelope-shaped flap. It also features the secure S-lock in shiny hardware on the front. This bag is famous for its beautiful look, but also for the practical interior.

The mini version is even chic’er than the bigger size because of the combination of double gold key chain with shiny Epi leather. The medium size Pochette Metis Bag comes with a leather shoulder strap, but the chain strap on the mini looks far more luxurious. And if you don’t feel like slinging it on your shoulder, you can always carry it by hand with the short leather handles.

For those that don’t like Epi leather, there are more options of course. You can choose the iconic Monogram or even the Monogram Reversed print.

The interior

The reason why the Pochette Metis Bag has become so famous is not only because of the iconic look, but in combination with the spacious and structured interior. It’s an ideal bag to carry as an everyday bag, so the investment is certainly worth it. Inside the Mini Pochette Metis Bag, you will find 3 inside compartment to carry all your personal items.

Is the mini something for you? Let us know in the comment section.

The Louis Vuitton Mini Pochette Metis Bag is measured 7.9’ x 5.5’ x 2.4’ inches, priced at $2490 USD, €1780 euro, £1660 GBP, $3050 CAD, $20600 HKD

LOUIS VUITTON CROISETTE BAG OR METIS POCHETTE BAG?

Louis Vuitton News

The Croisette Bag

Last year in May, Louis Vuitton introduced the Croisette Bag for the first time. It was an instant-hit and we received a lot of positive comments. The Croisette Bag is compact but has flawless functionalities. The design is chic with sophisticated detailing. It comes with a boho-chic tassel, but can be removed if you don’t like it. You can carry this bag for special events or match your casual chic outfit.

The Metis Pochette Bag

But then a competitor arrived in November 2016; it’s the Louis Vuitton Metis Pochette Bag. This bag is bigger, but has the same functionalities like the Croisette Bag – both come with handle for hand carry and leather strap for shoulder carry. The Metis Pochette Bag has a rectangle shape and has more pockets and compartments than the Croisette Bag. While the Croisette is better for casual days or the weekends, the Pochette Metis is a better choice as a workbag or for the busy woman who needs to carry a lot of essentials everyday.

The expansion of the Metis Pochette Bag line

If you look at what Louis Vuitton has done lately, the Metis Pochette bag has been extended from basic Monogram Canvas to Monogram Empreinte and other rare prints like the Monogram Reverse Canvas. The Monogram Empreinte is luxurious leather that changes the look to modern elegant.

The journey of the Croisette Bag was less exciting. Until today it’s only available in Damier Ebene Canvas or Damier Azur Canvas. So what does this mean? Is the Metis Pochette Bag more popular?

Which one is better?

I think each of them have their own style and use. The Croisette Bag is smaller in size and has less compartments but it’s nice to wear for the shopping days or at lunch meetings. The tassel is playful and will go well with simple casual outfit like jeans and tee’s

The Metis Pochette Bag is bigger and has lots of useful compartment. It’s ideal for work but can be carried in the weekends as well. It’s a practical bag especially when you need to carry a lot of essentials. The Metis Pochette in Reversed Monogram or Monogram Empreinte creates a different look for different occasions.

In terms of pricing, the Croisette Bag is slightly cheaper, it’s priced at $1590 USD in Canvas. The Pochette Metis Bag in canvas is priced at $1780 USD, but it’s also bigger.

In terms of sizes, the Croissette is measured 9.8′ x 6.7′ x 2.5′ inches (L x H x W) while the Pochette Metis is measured 9.8′ x 2.5′ x 3.5′ inches (L x H x W). So the length is the same, but the Pochette Metis is bigger in height and width because of the extra compartments.

What do you think? If you need to choose, which bag would you go for and why?

Louis Vuitton Introduces New Monogram Split at Men’s Spring 2018 Runway Show

Louis Vuitton News

THE BRAND’S MEN’S DESIGNER, KIM JONES, IS AT IT AGAIN WITH NEW TAKES ON LV’S FAMOUS LOGO

When it comes to bags, I sometimes feel like I look forward to Louis Vuitton‘s men’s show more than its show for women. Don’t get me wrong—the women’s bags put out by Nicolas Ghesquiere’s team are always a seasonal highlight for me, but men’s designer Kim Jones has a particular way of melding the brand’s signatures with a particular sort of sportiness that makes everything feel fresh, casual and easy to integrate into a wardrobe.

One of my favorite things about Jones’ men’s bags has been his use of color beyond the traditional chocolate and tan of the Louis Vuitton monogram, specifically his mixtures of black, grey and various shades of blue. The brand new Louis Vuitton Monogram Split print, which Jones debuted on his Spring 2018 runway in Paris last week, is the latest in this line of experiments. As you might imagine, the inspiration for the name comes from how the print looks on the bag.

Ghesquiere has played with inverting the traditional colors of the LV monogram in his women’s bags and then using both combinations in the same piece, and here Jones is doing something similar with the Monogram Eclipse color scheme he created: the motifs are the same color in each part of the print, but the background is different, half light and half dark. It’s a lot of logo, but the sporty finishes make that feel appropriate—after all, streetwear’s influence on recent fashion has brought about a full-scale resurgence of the major logo bag. Minimalists will hate it, but Louis Vuitton has never been for them anyway.

Louis Vuitton builds plush trunks for the 2017 French Open Trophies

Louis Vuitton News

It’s time for the second grand slam of the year and we cannot wait to witness our beloved hotshots, (read Novak Djokovic, Rafael Nadal, and Angelique Kerber) sweating it out for the legendary Roland-Garros’ trophies. Amidst the high-power struggles and some on and off court drama, one news that has managed to catch our eye is the unveiling of the novel LV trunks that will house the Grand 2017 French Open Trophies.

The French label has specially created two trophy trunks for the Suzanne-Lenglen Cup and the Musketeers’ Cup, each of which is awarded to the French Open Women’s and Men’s champions every year. Manufactured by Maison Mellerio, the oldest and probably the most revered Goldsmith in the world, the two trophies are a result of long hours of work and excellent craftsmanship. It’s no wonder then, that the prestigious cups have found a home as luxurious as the LV trunks.

Meticulously produced at the brand’s historic workshops in Asnières, the LV trunks boast of terracotta-colored interiors as well as the signature brass corners and lock. Adorned in the iconic Monogram canvas, one can also catch the quintessential ‘V’ mark on the front of them for an added dose of charm. It will certainly be exciting to know who bags these luxe LV trunks (and the French open trophies) this year.

Fall-Winter 2017 Mens Louis Vuitton

Louis Vuitton News

IMAGE: LOUIS VUITTON

I’ll be honest, this should have been a new post that focussed on the upcoming #LVxSupreme pieces that’s part of the FW/17, but with Louis Vuitton playing coy with anything related to that much-anticipated collaboration between the French luxury house and streetwear giant Supreme, here’s everything else from the Fall-Winter 2017 Mens Louis Vuitton collection instead.

IMAGE: LOUIS VUITTON

Don’t get me wrong – the rest of the collection isn’t shabby at all, with most everything from bags and SLGs to shoes and accessories beautifully thought out by the man who can do no wrong, Kim Jones. And speaking of accessories, first let us savour the DJ turnable that comes in its very own Monogram Macassar trunk. If I have the money/skills/space, this would be it.

IMAGE: LOUIS VUITTON

Next we’ve got part of the collection that’s mostly in browns, from the backpack I love (Christopher PM) in mixed materials that’s part-Monogram Canvas and part-Epi in a variety of gorgeous earth tones. Then there is the massive Monogram Initials bag made solely for the use of storing (and transporting) vinyl records, along with a smattering of SLGs from the same line. Why Monogram Initials? Because the initials (in black leather) are literally stitched onto the Monogram Canvas surface for a look that’s truly graphic. And because this FW17 collection is big on mixed materials, you’ll even find pieces like the belt that comes with Monogram Canvas on the outside and Epi on the inside.

IMAGE: LOUIS VUITTON

If Monogram Canvas isn’t your thing, here are some of the mostly-Epi bag and SLGs that you’ll find from F/W17, from the sling bag that’s mostly Epi on the front and trimmed with Monogram Eclipse on the side to a dash of SLGs in the same finish. You’ll also find more belts, scarves and of course, another set of pins that will rival even the #LVxFragment ones.

As usual, no word yet on their exact release dates (or prices in SGD) so expect more updates soon. On these and hopefully on the Supreme pieces.

LOUIS VUITTON CRUISE 2018 RUNWAY BAG

Louis Vuitton News

Louis-Vuitton-Cruise-2018-Runway-Bag-Collection

Straight out of the Miho Museum outside the city of Kyoto, Japan, Nicolas Ghesquiere’s genius floated through the air with his latest Louis Vuitton Cruise 2018 Runway Bag Collection. The collection is nothing but a riveting homage to Japanese culture with which Ghesquiere has fell in love with. Others described it as his open love letter to Japan and this is more than evident with what we’ve seen in the runway.

Featuring unique designs that are suffused and imbued with Japan’s trademarks such as the colorful dresses of kabukis and geishas, the tenacious lifestyle of the samurais, and the cutesy and quirky style of the Kawaii, the bag collection is indeed a pleasant surprise to many. It is in fact a collaboration between Nicolas Ghesquire and Kansai Yamamoto, a world-renowned Japanese designer.

You can see that there are Louis Vuitton’s classics and cult favorites gracing the collection. The Petite Malle, the Speedy and a new flap bag all in Monogram Canvas and Monogram reverse prints are unstoppable with their refined grace, injected with quirky and offbeat designs such as a kabuki taking a peek with her curious eyes, traditional prints of fishermen, and Samurai armors to name a few.

We are also seeing a new bucket bag, which is inspired by traditional Japanese lanterns and several small hot box bags in different sizes, prints, and finish. What could we say? This collection is entirely an amalgam of all things quirky and fun.
